The midnight library

The book we would be reviewing today is, 'The midnight library' penned by Matt Haig. It is a science-fictional novel suitable for all interested in parallel universes and multiverses.

Matt Haig is an English novelist and journalist. He is well known for his works like, 'How to stop time', 'The girl who saved Christmas' and 'The boy called Christmas'.

The plot unfolds from Nora's viewpoint. Nora Seed feels her life is pathetic and decides to end it. She ends up in a library where it is always midnight, and time never flows.

The library is said to exist between life and death. All the choices you ever made or never made could lead you to a very different kind of lifestyle in the present day. Nora gets to live all the alternatives she never chose through the books in the library. She needs to pick the right one for her before the library collapses onto itself. Which one would Nora choose? Can she make it in time?

'It is not what you look at that matters, it's what you see' is an extract from the book that illustrates to us that if we think that something matters to us even if that is trifling, it will be necessary.

'A person was like a city. You couldn't let a few less desirable parts put you off the whole. There may be bits you don't like, a few dodgy side streets and suburbs, but the good stuff makes it worth-while.' is a quote from the book that describes that we need to consider the admirable qualities of a person just like we look at their imperfections. We shouldn't judge them based only on their flaws.

'Happy moments can turn into pain, given time' is a quote from the book that illustrates to us that sometimes when we reminisce good things that we longer have, it would hurt us more than any sad memory.

'Never underestimate the big importance of small things' is a quote which describes us that little things can be a game-changer.

'Sometimes just to say your own truth out loud is enough to find others like you' is an extract that illustrates to us if only we share our experiences will we be able to find other people who faced similar things.

'Most gossip is envy in disguise' is an extract from the book which describes that we should never let the rumours about us drag us down. People only try to drag up down due to their jealousy.

'If you aim to be something you are not, you will always fail' is a quote that illustrates that everyone is unique in their way. You cannot blame a fish for not being able to run like a rabbit does and blame a rabbit for not being able to swim as a fish does. Everyone has a unique quality.

'The only way to learn is to live' is an extract that describes to us that there is no guide that would lead us to a successful life. We need to live it to experience and learn from that experience.

'You can choose choices but not outcomes' is an extract that explains to us that we need not regret the choices that we didn't make cause you never know what that might take you. We can only imagine how it could have been, but not how it would have been.

If you are a fan of science fiction books, this is the pick for you. Dive right in and comment on how you found it in the comment session.
