The plot unfolds in two perspectives, one of Shadow and the other in third person speech. Shadow has always wanted to be a part of the Guild that protected the crown. Idolizing Caledon Holt, she has always dreamed of becoming the Queen's assassin like him. He is the kingdom's deadliest weapon be it in brain or brawn. With a surprise attack on their country, they are forced to work as a team to hunt down the threat. With a possibility of war and love at risk, they stop at nothing to protect each other.

'A loyal facade hides the worst kind of enemies' is a quote from the book that illustrates to us that sometimes the people we think will never betray us are the ones that have been plotting against us all along.

'All the answers you seek are there, but only if you are willing to hear them' is a quote from the book that explains to us that if we put our mind to it, nothing is impossible. We just need to be willing.

If you are historical fiction or are into fantasy, this is your pick. Think no more, dive right in.
