Jo and Laurie

The book we shall be reviewing today is ' Jo and Laurie' penned by Margaret Stohl and Melissa de la Cruz. It is a YA historical romance, a retelling of the famous classic 'Little women' by Louisa May Alcott.

Margaret Stohl is an American author who's works include beautiful creatures,  Rolls-Royce and so on.

Melissa de la Cruz is known for her works like The Queen's assassin, The thirteenth fairy, blue bloods and so on.

Jo and Laurie beautifully depicts a lots of social aspects of the century along with their epic love story. Jo is an author who is the bread winner of her family. Laurie is her next door neighbor as well as her best friend who she lovingly calls Teddy. When Jo suffers from a writer's block, Laurie plans to take her on an inspirational tour to help her out in finishing the book before the deadline. Will Laurie's plan work? Will Jo be able to see through Laurie and find out his real feelings for her? Will they have a happy ending despite all the challenges thrown their way?

"Being poor doesn't make anyone wonderful, just like being rich doesn't," is a quote from the book which illustrates to us that our possessions are not what make us special but it is our personality and kind heart that really matters.

"Because, while life is not fair, it is logical," is also an extract from the book which tells us that life might not give fair opportunities to everybody but those who think logically in every situation don't wait for one; they create them.

"But what is success if you have no one to share it with?" is an extract from the book that commands us to realize that no matter how much we achieve, we need someone who will be happy for us, who will encourage us on our every step.

"Except, wasn't this love, also? Showing up when you were needed, without being asked?" is a quote from the book that explains to us the real meaning of love. The other person doesn't have to say a word but you already know what they really need.

"Every boat is a question, don't you think? Whether or not to get on and sail away, forever and ever, world without end" is an extract from the book. The boat here is the metaphor for the opportunities that we get in life and it is our choice is we want to take them or not.

I would like to recommend this book to you if you like reading historical fiction, romance, classic retelling, or a fan of little women.
