The story unfolds from Lily's point of view, narrating the incidents of her life. It is interesting to note that this book deals with the issue of domestic abuse apart from the absorbing plotline.

“There is no such thing as bad people. We’re all just people who sometimes do bad things,” is a quote from the book that describes to us the true nature of humans. There is no angelic or demonic person but just people who act upon the situations.

“Just because someone hurts you doesn't mean you can simply stop loving them. It's not a person's actions that hurt the most. It's the love. If there was no love attached to the action, the pain would be a little easier to bear,” is a quote from the book that describes to us that if we do not care about the person, we do not feel as bad as we do when they do something wrong. Don't you agree?

“Just because we didn’t end up on the same wave, doesn’t mean we aren’t still a part of the same ocean,” is a quote from the book that tells us that if something did not end the way we wanted it to, it does not mean that it never existed altogether. We just need to accept the way it is now and treasure it in our memories.

“I feel like everyone fakes who they really are when deep down we're all equal amounts of screwed up. Some of us are just better at hiding it than others,” is an extract from the book that describes to us the current social scenario where each one of us is hiding behind masks, and portraying a perfect life on social media while hiding the struggle we face in our everyday lives.

“Shouldn't there be more distaste in our mouths for the abusers than for those who continue to love the abusers?” is a quote from the book that illustrates to us that most of the time, the blame is placed upon the victims rather than the abusers which need to change.

If you are looking for a romance read with a good message, here is your pick.
