The book we shall be reviewing today is 'Without Merit' penned by Colleen Hoover. It is a tale revolving around love, the importance of truth and family relations and how they can shape a person into who they are and who they eventually become.
Colleen Hoover is a young adult author who started her career with her famous series 'Slammed' in January 2012.
The plot unfolds from Merit's point of view, who has an odd habit of collecting trophies whenever had a bad day. Merit Voss is accustomed to her all family secrets. One day she feels she cannot bear them anymore, and she decides to end everything. The family is left to deal with the consequences when her plans fail.
“Don’t make your presence known. Make your absence felt.” is a quote from the book that describes to us that people genuinely find our value only when we are not around them anymore.
“It annoys me when people try to convince other people that their anger or stress isn’t warranted if someone else in the world is worse off than them. It’s bullshit. Your emotions and reactions are valid. Don’t let anyone tell you any different. You’re the only one who feels them,” is an extract from the book that tells us that every pain is valid. Every single tear a person sheds for someone or something, no matter how small it might seem to others, could be what drives them forward.
“You don’t get to decide what your life means to anyone else.” is a quote from the book that illustrates to us that we need to think about the others in our life who love and cherish us before taking any rash decisions. One mistake you commit holds the power to scar the lives of your loved ones forever.
