Unfixed

Today, we will review Unfixed by Amy L. Sauder, a captivating low fantasy novel that marks the first installment in a duology set within an enchanting circus.

Amy L. Sauder is celebrated for her psychological tales that intricately weave compelling twists of mystery, adding depth and intrigue to her narratives. Her other books include 'I know you like a murder' and 'Picked up Pieces'.

The plot unfolds through multiple perspectives: one from Max and another from a third-person viewpoint. Julia struggles to find her place in the world until she stumbles upon a magical circus that offers her a sense of belonging—only for both her and the circus to mysteriously vanish. Meanwhile, captivated by the circus's events, Max embarks on an investigation to uncover the truth, leading him down an unexpectedly dark path.

One striking quote from the book states, "Small events escalate to big ones until you can’t even recognize yourself." This reflects the idea that every decision, big or small, shapes who we are today.

Another notable line, "Magic or curses, extraordinary and haunting, the world welcomes it when limited to just the right setting," illustrates that we thrive best in the right environment.

The poignant observation, "The memories are what give time meaning, what make the abstract tangible," emphasizes that without the memories we create, life loses its significance.

Lastly, the insightful remark, "We’re all con artists in our own way. Going through life saying and doing what needs to be done for ourselves, even at the expense of others," reminds us that we often craft illusions of our own righteousness while shifting blame to others when things go awry.

If you’re a fan of fantasy or psychological mysteries, Unfixed is definitely a book to consider. Stay tuned for the author interview coming up soon!
